The charming southern city of Asheville, NC, continues to grow and is one of the best places in America to live or visit. In fact, Asheville was named one of the 15 Coolest Places to Go in 2018 by Forbes Magazine and one of CNN Travel’s 18 Best Places to Visit in 2018.

But what makes Asheville such a popular destination? Besides all the great history behind the city and the businesses that are longstanding staples of the community, there is current development in Asheville that is making it an even more exciting place to be.

Here’s a quick look at what’s new in Asheville:

Hotels/Event Space

There are plans in place to bring more than 1,500 additional hotel rooms and event spaces to Asheville. The AC Hotel Asheville Downtown and Cambria Downtown Asheville are two of the premier new additions to Asheville’s metropolitan area. There is also a brand new Holiday Inn and Suites in the Biltmore Village area. And the new Seely Pavilion at Omni Grove Park Inn is the perfect location for weddings and group meetings.

Restaurants

There are several new restaurants in Asheville, NC, that you should be aware of. One of them happens to be on-site at the aforementioned Cambria hotel. Hemingway’s Cuba brings the taste of authentic Cuban cuisine right to North Carolina and serves some of the best breakfast Asheville has to offer. And as the city with more breweries per capita than any other in the United States, Asheville always has new breweries popping up left and right.

Tours

The Asheville Farm to Table tours have recently been improved and allow guests to explore different Asheville farms and receive a locally sourced meal. Wai Mauna now offers stand-up paddleboard tours on Asheville’s French Broad River and Bellyak tours are where guests can take a face-first kayak ride on their stomach. Also, Asheville Hiking Tours are now offering private tour options.
